Tow Truck Operator Chased By Knife-Wielding Bandit

WATCH NOW: Miami police are asking for help in finding a knife-wielding bandit who chased a tow truck operator around his truck.

MIAMI, FL — Miami police are asking for help in finding a knife-wielding bandit who chased a tow truck operator around his truck early Friday. The incident happened at 4:20 a.m. by the Chevron gasoline pumps at 1684 NW 27 Avenue. Police released surveillance video of the robbery on Tuesday.

"The victim was sitting inside his tow truck when he was confronted by an armed suspect, who at knifepoint, demanded his belongings," according to Officer Kenia Fallat of the Miami Police Department. "In fear, the victim exited the tow truck. The suspect pointed, threatened and chased the victim with a knife before the victim managed to run inside the gas station’s enclosed store."

Fallat said that the bandit entered took the victim’s mobile phone and an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing westbound on NW 17 Street.

The bandit was described as a white Hispanic male, clean shaven, slim build, 28 to 32 years of age, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall with short brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a light colored shirt, blue, grey pants and black sneakers.
