12-Year-Old Girl Killed In Northwest Miami-Dade

A 12-year-old girl was killed Tuesday and four 0ther people, including a 7-year-old boy, were taken to two area hospitals following a crash.

MIAMI, FL — A 12-year-old girl was killed Tuesday and four 0ther people, including a seven-year-old boy, were taken to two area hospitals following a three-vehicle crash in Northwest Miami-Dade. The incident happened shortly before 8:30 a.m. at NW 163 Street and North Miami Avenue.

"A Honda SUV was traveling West on 163rd Street. A Nissan Altima was traveling east on 163rd Street and a Nissan Maxima was traveling South on North Miami Avenue," explained Detective Chris Thomas of the Miami-Dade Police Department. "The three vehicles collided at the intersection of 163rd Street and North Miami Avenue."

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel pronounced the girl dead on the scene. She had been traveling in the blue Honda CR-V.

"The other two occupants in the Honda SUV were transported to Aventura Hospital in critical condition, said Thomas. "The driver and two passengers in the Nissan Maxima sustained minor injuries and were treated and released from the scene. The two occupants in the Nissan Altima were transported, by ambulance, to Jackson Memorial Hospital North in stable condition."

Thomas identied the two people from the Honda who were taken to Aventura Hospital as Durocher Querette and Solange Querette.

The two people taken to Jackson Memorial from the Altima were identified as 36-year-old Wendy Duperat and the seven-year-old boy.

The crash remained under investigation as of late Tuesday night.
