1. Florida gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist announced Karla Hernández-Mats as his running mate at Hialeah Middle Community School on Saturday. The 42-year-old serves as the president of United Teachers of Dade and served as a teacher for 10 years. (Subscription: Miami Herald, Free: Florida Politics)
2. A Tri-Rail train crashed into an abandoned vehicle on Friday in Fort Lauderdale, causing a partial derailment and leaving eight people injured, authorities said. All eight victims had minor injuries. CSX Transportation is the lead agency in the ongoing investigation. (WSVN)
3. Courtney Clenney,26, was booked into Miami-Dade County jail on Friday on a charge of second-degree murder. She is being held without bond. Clenney, an OnlyFans model, is accused of murdering her boyfriend in their Miami apartment. (NBC Miami)
4. The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science (Frost Science) is set to create the first national coral reef conservancy. It will be located at 1101 Biscayne Blvd. The mission is to "achieve a healthy and sustainable future for Florida's Coral Reef." (Miami Today)
5. U.S. Coast Guard crews returned 90 Cuban migrants to the island after capturing vessels in the Straits of Florida five times on Wednesday and Thursday. Since October 1, 2021, the U.S. Coast Guard has intercepted 4,614 Cubans at sea, as of Saturday afternoon. (WPLG Local 10)

- U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon has signaled that she's inclined to grant a request from Trump’s lawyers for an independent special master. The master is usually a former judge. (WPLG Local 10)
- The Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines has sent a letter to the House Intelligence and House Oversight committee chairs that says the intelligence community is conducting a damage assessment of the documents taken from former President Donald Trump’s home in Mar-a-Lago, according to a letter obtained by CNN.
