Accused Triple Bank Robber Surrenders To Hollywood Police

MIAMI, FL — A 40-year-old man walked into the Hollywood Police Department over the weekend and surrendered to police in connection with Friday's triple bank robberies, according to the FBI.

Sandy Lamar Graham Jr. of Hollywood made his initial appearance in U.S. District Court on Monday. He was charged with bank robbery and was scheduled to be arraigned on Nov. 4 in Fort Lauderdale.

Graham is accused of targeting two banks in Hollywood and one in Plantation. In each of the robberies, Graham allegedly handed notes to the tellers saying he had a gun.

The first robbery took place in a Hollywood Chase bank at 2:36 p.m. The branch is located at 4223 Hollywood Blvd.

Court documents said the first teller walked away briefly and then allegedly told Graham: "I cannot help you'' and walked away again. Graham allegedly left the bank empty-handed but the teller told police she was afraid.

At 3:11 p.m., Graham allegedly entered a Bank of America branch at 2903 Stirling Rd. in Hollywood and again handed a note to the teller saying that he had a gun. This time the teller turned over $2,711.

The third robbery took place around 5:30 p.m. in Plantation at a SunTrust branch located at 8200 W. Broward Blvd. The teller allegedly gave Graham $501.

Customers were in all three of the banks at the time but no one was injured, according to Special Agent Michael Leverock and spokesman Jim Marshall of the FBI in Miami.
