1. An elementary school teacher was attacked by a student while on the job in Pembroke Pines and an investigation is now underway. Authorities say the incident occurred Wednesday morning at Pines Lakes Elementary School. The incident remains an active and criminal investigation and it remains unclear if the student was taken into custody. (WSVN)
2. Opening Day on Thursday, March 31 is canceled for Miami Marlins' fans, along with the rest of Major League Baseball, after the players and owners failed to reach a compromise over salary negotiations by Tuesday's 5 p.m. deadline. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said at a press conference in Jupiter that the first two series of regular-season games are canceled. (St. Pete Patch)
3. A woman suffering from dementia allowed a burglar into her Miami home while her son, the homeowner, was at work on January 31, Miami police said in a news release. The suspect was a 40- to 50-year-old man who weighed about 200 pounds. He was wearing an aqua-colored facial covering, a white ball cap, a construction vest and long, tan shorts. Police are seeking more information from the public. (Miami Patch)
4. Yaniv Cohen is bringing the flavors of Israel to Jaffa in the Atlantic Village with an expansion of Cohen's food stand with the same name in the Miami Design District. Menu options include mezze platters, deconstructed baba ghanoush, falafel balls, hummus, turmeric chicken, short ribs, lamb skewers, and more. Cohen imports the spices from Israel for authenticity. 5. A Miami art exhibit on display called "The Memory on Her Face" located in Allapattah on NW 23rd Street features the work of five Ukrainian artists on Russian aggression in their homeland. The gallery is in an historic building and during the Second World War was a bomb shelter. The co-founder of the exhibit says they "decided to open the pop-up before the war — it was a very spontaneous decision." (NBC Miami)
