What's Open And Closed In Miami On Christmas, New Year's Day

Find out what's open and closed in Miami on Christmas and New Year's Day.

MIAMI, FL — Miami city offices and Miami-Dade County offices will be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday Jan. 1 in observance of the Christmas and New Year's Day holidays.

Both the city and county will be open on Dec. 24 and Dec. 30.

"In observance of the Christmas Day holiday, there will be no garbage, bulky trash or recycle pick-up on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2018," according to Miami city officials. "The Solid Waste Department will be closed and will resume normal operations on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018."

Miami-Dade County garbage won't be collected on Christmas Day but will be picked up on New Year's Day. Garbage that would have been picked up on Christmas Day will be collected on Friday, Dec. 28, the next regularly scheduled collection day.

There will be no Miami-Dade County recycling collection on Christmas Day. Recycling collection scheduled to take place on Christmas Day will take place on Saturday, Dec. 29th.

City of Miami residents are advised to hold their garbage, bulky trash and recycling until the next scheduled pick-up day, according to officials.

Miami city residents whose recycle pick-up day falls on Tuesday, Dec. 25 are being provided with an alternate recycle pick up on Wednesday, Dec. 26.

Normal service will resume on Wednesday, Dec. 26. Miami city residents are reminded to:

  • Place garbage, recycle carts and bulky trash out in front of their home on the public right of way and away from phones/cable/electricity lines, under trees, utility poles, fire hydrants, fences, vehicles and/or 5 feet away from any structure.

The City‘s Mini Dump will also be closed on Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2018. The Mini Dump Facility will be open during the following observed holiday hours:

Monday, Dec. 24, from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
