Woman Attacked In Miami Hotel Near Airport

A 33-year-old woman was sexually assaulted in a brazen daytime attack inside the woman's hotel room not far from Miami International.

MIAMI SPRINGS, FL — A 33-year-old woman was sexually assaulted Monday in a brazen daytime attack inside the woman's hotel room not far from Miami International Airport, according to Miami-Dade police. The incident occurred around 12:15 p.m. at the Clarion Inn & Suites Miami Airport. The hotel is located at 5301 NW 36 Street.

"The victim was in her hotel room when she heard a knock at the door," explained Detective Alvaro Zabaleta of the Miami-Dade Police Department Tuesday night. "As she opened the door, the unknown subject forced his way in and a brief struggle ensued."

Zabaleta said that the man brandished an orange box cutter and sexually assaulted the woman before fleeing.

"The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim is not a local resident and the subject was not a guest at the hotel," Zabaleta said.

Police released a sketch of the woman's attacker and are asking for the public's help in finding him.

He is described as black, in his early 2os with a light medium complexion, mustache and full beard. He is thin, approximately 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall.

He was last seen wearing a multi-colored T-shirt, faded jeans and white sneakers.

"Anyone who makes contact with this individual is urged to call 9-1-1, as he is considered armed and dangerous," added Zabaleta.
