WATCH: Miami police are asking for the public's help in finding the woman who tried to take a little girl from a Miami bus.

MIAMI, FL — Police are asking for the public's help in finding a woman who tried to take a five-year-old girl from a Miami bus last week. The incident ocurred on Sept. 5 shortly after 5:30 p.m. The Miami-Dade Transit Bus was operating in the 3500 block of NW 12 Avenue.
"The victim boarded and sat in the rear of the bus, near where the suspect was seated, while the mother found seating toward the front," according to Officer Michael Vega of the Miami Police Department.
Police released surveillance video of the woman on Monday in the hope that someone will recognize her.

"Based on witnesses’ statements, the suspect asked the victim where her mother was," Vega explained. "She then told the victim to get off the bus with her to which the victim refused. The suspect then extended her arm towards the victim and once again asked her to get off of the bus. The victim again refused. Shortly thereafter, the suspect exited the bus without further incident."
Vega said that the child told her mother what happened after the woman left the bus. "Together they notified the bus driver," Vega said. "The bus driver then stopped the bus and called police. Two other witnesses corroborated the occurrence."
