1. Man slapped, spat on teacher near Jewish day school in Miami Beach, police sources say (wsvn.com) — Police are searching in Miami Beach for a man who allegedly assaulted a teacher near Lehrman Community Day School, including spitting on her and shouting an antisemitic slur. The attack happened Tuesday on 77th Street, and officers, park rangers, drones, and undercover detectives canvassed the area but did not find the suspect. Anyone with information can contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers anonymously.
   

2. Biscayne Bay gets a $20 million cash injection to help clean up polluted water (miamiherald.com) — Miami Beach is getting more than $420,000 from a new $20 million state funding round to clean up polluted water around Park View Island, one of the region’s dirtiest waterways. The same Biscayne Bay program is sending larger grants to other Miami-Dade cities and also investing $9.5 million in coral reef restoration, aiming to revive Florida’s coastal waters over the coming decades.
   

3. Perfect: Miami Beach Scores 100 on LGBTQ+ Protections (communitynewspapers.com) — Miami Beach just earned a perfect 100 on the 2025 Municipal Equality Index, reaffirming the city as a national leader in LGBTQ+ protections and inclusive policies. Local leaders say this top score reflects years of work to make Miami Beach safe, welcoming and equitable for all residents, even as many states see declining averages.
   

4. Florida's CAIR vows lawsuit against DeSantis over 'foreign terrorist' label (wlrn.org) — State leaders are clashing over Gov. Ron DeSantis’ move to label a Muslim civil rights group a “foreign terrorist organization,” a decision he defended during a press event in North Miami Beach. CAIR’s Florida chapter says it will sue, arguing the order is unconstitutional and lacks legal basis, while the governor signals more legislation could follow in the upcoming session.
