Baker Senior Center Founder Jaclynn Faffer dies (gulfshorebusiness.com) — Naples is mourning Jaclynn Faffer, founder and CEO of Baker Senior Center Naples, who died Dec. 14 after transforming senior services in Collier County. Since opening in 2014, her vision grew the center from serving 80 older adults to more than 1,400 members, culminating in a major North Naples facility and a wide range of social, clinical, and cognitive health programs that will continue under interim leadership.
   

2. When the Naples Pier is demolished, where will debris go? (fox4now.com) — Naples officials have secured an $11.4 million FEMA grant to demolish the damaged Naples Pier starting in early January, clearing the way for a full rebuild. Debris will be sorted at Bayview Park and a Jolley Bridge staging area, where reusable materials may become artificial reefs and massive new pilings will be loaded, with brief, announced traffic delays expected.
   

3. Collier County Sheriff ensures security for Naples Hanukkah celebration (winknews.com) — In Naples, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office quietly boosted security as the Jewish Federation of Greater Naples marked the second night of Hanukkah, responding to global concerns after a deadly attack in Sydney. Deputies focused on keeping the celebration safe but low-key while residents emphasized coming together, honoring victims abroad with a moment of silence and continuing their traditions locally.
   

5. DNA breakthrough identifies Collier County woman after 50 years (winknews.com) — Collier County investigators have finally identified the woman long known as “Naples Jane Doe” as Darlene Schaub, using advanced forensic genetic genealogy. Her remains were found off Turner River Road in 1975, and the homicide case is now formally reopened. Deputies are asking anyone with information to contact Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers.
