5 Things You Should Know Today, Oct. 4

We've got lots you can learn about over the next few days.

1.        It will be sunny today, with temperatures reaching a high near 84.

2.     The City Council will meet for a regular session tonight at  City Hall at 7 p.m. today. On the agenda: a proposal to provide streetscaping for the Main Street Landing development, a request to rezone a Char Lane property to create additional parking for a new business moving in nearby and a request to update the New Port Richey Public Library’s software to the tune of nearly $40,000.

3.     The New Port Richey Parks and Recreation Department will discuss its , which cost $15,250, in public meetings Wednesday and Thursday.  Consultants from Colorado firm Ballard, King and Associates Ltd. will meet with the public at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. A focus group will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Both meetings will take place at the New Port Richey Recreation and Aquatic Center.

4.     You know that hospital under construction east of Mitchell Ranch Plaza? The ? Yeah, it’s kind of a big deal. So staff at the Medical Center of Trinity, which is opening its doors next month are inviting the public to informational meeting about the new facility. The meeting will go from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Seven Springs Golf and Country Club, 3535 Trophy Blvd.

5.     It’s the first night of the New Port Richey Police Department’s six-week Citizens Academy. The academy starts at 6 p.m. at the police department (6739 Adams Street.)
