'Above And Beyond': Crystal River Girl Honored As FL Star Student
Patch and T-Mobile are partnering to celebrate local "Star Students" who succeed in Florida classrooms and their communities.

CRYSTAL RIVER, FL — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Heather Vantine who nominated Aida of Crystal River, Florida.

How do you know the star local student?
I am a program coordinator for Big Brothers Big Sisters; Aida volunteers for our program.
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Aida consistently exhibits maturity and motivation beyond her years. I am repeatedly amazed by Aida’s determination to push herself academically, in her activities and through her community contributions. I struggle to think of a young person, aside from Aida, who is more engaged in making the world around them a better place. Not only does Aida volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters as a mentor, but she also volunteers at the Early Learning Center of Homosassa, is the Key Club President (and) works at the YMCA in the school age program.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Aida's work ethic and resilience are truly inspirational. She goes above and beyond to support her mentee and the mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Aida!
