AT&T Retail Store On Its Way To Main Street

Plans are for an August opening.

A new AT&T retail store is planned for the corner of U.S. 19 and Main Street in New Port Richey.

The goal is for the store to open its doors August 15, said Jim Chapman, a partner at Wireless Plus, an authorized AT&T retailer that will own the store.

The store will occupy the 14,000-square-foot building at 6318 U.S. 19, the former home of Mrs. Mobility, a scooter and motorized wheelchair shop.

“We are opening the New Port Richey authorized retailer location due to growing demand for mobile broadband service and smartphones,” AT&T spokeswoman Kelly Starling wrote in an email. “The 6318 U.S. 19 site is ideal from a business perspective. It provides great visibility and is in a high-traffic area.”

The plan is to gut the interior of the building at at 6318 U.S. 19. AT&T products will be installed inside the structure, which the store is renting, and AT&T signs will be added onto the façade, Chapman said.

“It’s going to be a very, very attractive and upscale building,” Chapman said.

Chapman said the store will employ 10 to 12 staff. Six to eight of those employees will be new hires.

There’s an AT&T-owned store in 8615 U.S. 19 in Port Richey and an AT&T authorized-retailer-owned store in Mitchell Ranch Shopping Plaza in Trinity. Wireless Plus owns stores in Tarpon Springs, Palm Harbor and Clearwater.

“AT&T authorized retailers are part of our distribution strategy to make our products and services accessible to more customers,” Starling wrote. “They provide the same services and products offered at AT&T-owned stores.“
