‘B’ Grade Rating For Pasco County Schools: FL Dept. Of Education

Pasco County Schools earned a "B" baseline grade rating from the Florida Department of Education for the 2022-2023 school year.

PASCO COUNTY, FL — Pasco County Schools has earned a “B” baseline grade from the Florida Department of Education for the 2022-23 school year, data shows.

Pasco County Schools has maintained a “B” grade since 2017.

The baseline grades are calculated using results from the first year of implementation of the new state assessment, Florida’s Assessment of Student Thinking (FAST), and are considered informational only.

“I’m pleased to see what our schools have accomplished, and two (50 percent) of our schools are no longer at an ‘F’ status,” Superintendent Kurt Browning said. “Now that we have the baseline grades, our teachers and administrators are focused on these data and planning for greater accomplishments based on this mid-year reflection. These data will help us to make informed decisions about improvements for the remainder of the year.”

Seventy-seven percent of Pasco schools earned an “A,” “B” or “C”’ grade, and half of Pasco’s schools earned an “A” or “B,” according to a news release from the district.

Twenty-six of the district’s 94 schools earned “A” grades. Three schools moved up from a “B” to an “A,” while 12 schools increased their overall grade

Six schools received an “I,” which is incomplete, and Pasco County Schools will be looking at appeals for these schools.

The district will know more about why they received an “I” after receiving their data files. Often, an “I” is given to schools that don’t meet the participation rate, the district said.
