Bicyclist Injured in Hit-and-Run Dies

Anthony Georgeianna, 45, died in the hospital Wednesday.

A Holiday man died Wednesday from injuries sustained in the wake of a car striking the bicycle he was riding.

Anthony Georgianna, 45, died at Bayonet Point Hospital, where he had received  treatment for his injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident that landed Georgianna in the hospital occurred on Oct. 1 in Port Richey.

Georgianna was pedaling southbound on the crosswalk at the intersection of Fox Hollow Drive and Regency Park Boulevard when he traveled into the path of a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix travelling eastbound on Fox Hollow.  

The Pontiac was driven by Krystle Lynn Latham, 27, of Port Richey. She had a 3-year-old passenger.

The Pontiac hit the bike, and Georgianna was thrown from his seat, according to the highway patrol. He fell on the hood of the Pontiac and then landed on the road. Latham left the scene, and the incident was described as a hit-and-run.

It is now being turned over to FHP’s traffic homicide investigators.
