Boy, 14, Tried To Suffocate Infant: Pasco Deputies

Pasco County deputies say a 14-year-old Port Richey boy tried to kill a 4-month-old baby. His arrest was announced Friday.

PORT RICHEY, FL — A 14-year-old Port Richey boy faces attempted first-degree murder and child abuse charges related to a December incident involving a 4-month-old baby.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, the boy was watching the infant just before midnight Dec. 29 when he placed it “face down on a bed as to where the victim’s face was in the blanket.” The boy then placed a pillow on top of the baby’s head “in an attempt to suffocate and kill the victim,” an arrest report stated.

Following the teen’s arrest, he told deputies intended to kill the baby and “told me he sat on a couch and watched the victim struggle by moving his arms around, as the victim was unable to roll over to prevent being suffocated,” the report added.
