PORT RICHEY, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a Monday night crash that sent an 8-year-old Port Richey boy to the hospital with serious injuries.

According to the patrol, Mark Martin, 45, of Port Richey was driving a Ford F150 east on Penwood Drive around 6:45 p.m. June 5. As Martin traveled west of Morehead Lane, troopers say another vehicle was properly parked along the eastbound side of Penwood Drive.

Adam Fulbright, 8, a highway patrol report said, walked in front of the parked vehicle and into Martin’s path. Martin attempted to steer away from the child, but was not successful, the report added.
