FL Woman Sings ‘Click Click Boom’ As She Fatally Shoots Husband, Records Show

A Pasco County woman claims her fatal shooting of her husband while he was in the shower was accidental, arrest records show.

HUDSON, FL — A Hudson woman was arrested Thursday after telling deputies that she fatally shot her husband while she was in the shower, according to a Pasco County arrest affidavit.

Dusty Southwell, 49, was charged with murder/homicide not premeditated, a felony.

She called 911 on Wednesday around 6:30 p.m. and said that her husband was dead and she “pulled the trigger,” according to the report. She told 911 operators that the gun she used was on a nightstand in their home.

Deputies who responded to the home found Dusty outside and her husband, Joshua Southwell, dead in the shower of the master bathroom. He was killed by a single gunshot wound to his forehead.

Dusty told investigators that while her husband was in the shower, she took his handgun and began singing, “Click Click Boom,” a song that she said she sang with him, while outside the bathroom door, according to the affidavit.

She said that her husband turned off the water in the shower, pulled the curtain to the side and was drying himself off when she pointed the gun at him and pulled the trigger once. He was hit by a bullet, collapsing in the shower.

Dusty told investigators that she thought the gun was unloaded, the affidavit said. After checking on her husband, she called her daughter and then called 911.

She put the gun back on the nightstand after the shooting, and denied that there had been an argument or physical altercation before the shooting

She claimed the shooting was an accident.

The District Six Medical Examiner's Office is involved in the investigation and the autopsy is pending.
