Cypress Elementary Closes Due To Wildfire Smoke
The wildfire in the Starkey Preserve has forced the closing of a third school in the New Port Richey area.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — As a wildfire in the Starkey Preserve continues to blow smoke in New Port Richey’s direction, Pasco County Schools announced the closing of another campus. Cypress Elementary School students will find their campus shuttered for the day Monday.
In a May 8 email to media, the school district said that parents were being notified by automated message of the decision to close. Buses that have already picked up children are returning them home, the district said. Parents who drop off their children are asked to return them home for the day.
The district has also closed River Ridge Middle and River Ridge High due to smoke-related concerns.
