Deputies: Woman Faces Child Neglect Charge After Fleeing Police

Shannon Delgado was charged with DUI, driving with a suspended or revoked license with knowledge, fleeing to elude and child neglect.

A Pasco County Sheriff’s deputy was responding to a suspicious incident Sunday morning when she spotted Shannon Patricia Delgado driving south on Rowan Road in the New Port Richey area and turn east on Massachusetts Ave, according to an arrest report.

The deputy started following in a patrol car and turned on the patrol car lights,  but  Delgado didn’t stop.  

Delgado turned south on Davis St. and appeared to be pulling over , but then drove off before the deputy could get out of the patrol car.

The deputy and another deputy were able to stop Delgado on Anderson St.

After approaching Delgado’s vehicle, the deputy saw Delgado behind the wheel and two children in the back seat. One child was 3-years-old, and the other was 5-years-old.

Delgado smelled of alcohol.

“(Delgado) placed her two minor children into harms way due to being intoxicated and fleeing,” the arrest report states. 

The deputy also checked Delgado’s license and found that it was suspended in 2011.

Delgado, 23, of 5042 Meadowlark Lane, was arrested and charged with DUI, driving with a suspended or revoked license with knowledge, fleeing to elude and child neglect.

She remained in jail Monday in lieu of $15,300 bail.
