FDLE To Investigate Deputy-Involved Shooting Of Pasco Man Threatening Suicide

TRINITY, FL — A Trinity man threatening to kill himself has been hospitalized with a gunshot wound.

The Pasco County sheriff's office has been vague on the details of how the man was injured.

According to the sheriff's report, on Tuesday at 6:20 p.m., deputies were called to the Fox Wood neighborhood in Trinity for a suicide attempt in progress with gunfire heard from a home.

The sheriff's office said, based on the preliminary investigation, a man injured himself with a self-inflicted gunshot. A deputy then confronted the man and fired his weapon. It's unclear whether the man's injury was self-inflicted or the result of the deputy firing his weapon.

Medical care was given at the scene before the man was taken to the hospital.

The deputy has been placed on administrative leave until the shooting is investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
