Dorian Becomes 4th Named Storm of the Season

While the storm is still days away from America's coastline, forecasters at the National Hurricane Center are keeping a close eye on it.

It might not be time to batten down the hatches just yet, but New Port Richey area residents may want to keep their eyes on the weather as newly formed Tropical Storm Dorian makes its way across the Atlantic.

The storm was located about 410 miles west, southwest of the Cape Verde Islands Wednesday, July 24 and is moving in Florida’s general direction at the moment, according to a forecast track from the National Hurricane Center. With maximum sustained winds of 50 mph, the weather formation has officially become the fourth named storm of the 2013 Hurricane Season.

The forecast track puts Dorian near Puerto Rico on Monday morning. Where she’ll go from there remains to be seen.

In the immediate weather future, Tampa Bay area residents are likely to see more rain as the week comes to a close, according to the National Weather Service.
