Five Things You Should Know This Weekend

Here are five ways to make it through the weekend

1. Saturday will be mostly sunny in Pasco County, the National Weather Service predicts. During the day Saturday, temperatures are expected to rise to 60 on the coast and reach the lower 60s inland. At night, they will fall into the upper 30s on the coast and lower 30s inland.

2. Sunday will also be sunny. Temperatures will reach the mid 60s on the coast and the upper 60s inland during the day. At night, temperatures will fall to the 40s on the coast and into the 30s inland.

4. The Hero 5K Run is being held today to raise money for Justin Gaertner, a U.S. Marine from Trinity who lost his legs to an explosive in Afghanistan. He is currently recovering in the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. The event consists of a 5K Run and a 1-mile Fun Run, starting at 7:30 a.m. at Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park.

5. A fundraiser planned to start at 1 p.m. at AMVETS Post 98 at 4629 Bartelt Rd. in Holiday today will benefit Kaitlyn Jenkins, a 7-year-old diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer. Kaitlyn is the daughter of an employee of the P, and several benefits are planned for her throughout Pasco County. The Sons of Eros is the featured music group of the night. Donations will be collected.
