Five Things You Should Know Today

The weekend's almost here, and there are big things on the horizon

1.      Lance Cpl. , a U.S. Marine whose legs were amputated after he was caught in an explosion in Afghanistan, is coming home to Trinity on Saturday after a long recovery at Walter Reed Medical Center's campus in Washington, D.C. Welcome him back from 4 p.m.-7 p.m.  His return route will travel from State Road 54 onto Trinity Blvd, turn right on Little, turn left on Mitchell turn right on Seven Springs and end at VFW post 7987 at 7445 Chester McKay Dr.

2.     It will be mostly sunny again in New Port Richey, the National Weather Service predicts. Temperatures should reach a high of 85.

5.     Fundraiser alert: Kristen Wegner, a New Port Richey teenager, has planned a vegan bake saleon Saturday at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore (4131 Grand Boulevard, New Port Richey). The proceeds will be donated to the Salvation Army to aid victims of the recent tornadoes that ravaged the Southern United States. The sale will last from 9:30 a.m.- 2 p.m.
