Why are you reading this when you could be watching X-Men... I mean celebrating Independence Day.

1.     There’s a 30 percent chance of rain today after 1 p.m. until dark, when it will drop down to 20 percent. Read the forecast for today and the rest of the week.

 2.     Pasco County still has a burn ban, but are exempt. Feel free to light up the night in your backyard.

3.     See fireworks for free at 9:15 p.m. today at Waterfront Park, 8119 Old Post Road, Port Richey.

4.     Or drive over to Dade City today for fireworks and live entertainment at . The festivities start at 4 p.m. at the Pasco County Fairgrounds, but fireworks begin at 9:15. Admission costs $5 for adults. Parking costs $5. Children 12 and younger enter free.

5.     Join a celebration at the local Elks Lodge #2284, 7201 Congress St, New Port Richey, FL 34653. The festivities last from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. A cost of $10 gets you pulled pork, cole slaw and key lime. Musician Johnny Lobo plays at 2 p.m.
