Holiday Man With Knife Attacks Wife

A Holiday man stands accused of attacking his wife.

Harry Perez went to a house his wife lives in on Baroque Drive in Holiday around 2 a.m. Thursday and demanded to speak to his wife about their “failing marriage,” according to a Pasco County Sheriff’s Office arrest report

She opened the door to speak with him, and they got into an argument.

He pushed her across the living room and into the north bedroom. In the bedroom, he reached his right hand over her left shoulder and “punched” her, the woman told a deputy. She became light headed and dizzy and reached over her shoulder and felt her shirt to be moist.  She saw her hand was covered in blood.

She then saw that Perez was holding a small, black-handled pocket knife with a silver jagged blade.

He “swung the knife trying to cut her again,” according to the arrest report.  She was able to avoid being struck a second time.

She grabbed a phone and tried to give it to her son. Perez took the phone from her to prevent a call to 9-1-1. 

She then ran out of the house and got in a vehicle. Perez stood in the doorway of the vehicle to prevent her from leaving. He insisted on driving the woman to the hospital. She asked him to get in the passenger side. She left the driver’s side door open, and when Perez got into the passenger’s side, she got out and tried to run away.

She ran to her grandmother’s house two homes away, and Perez followed. Her grandmother locked Perez out.

“I have nothing left to live for,” Perez yelled through the door.

The wife told the deputies Perez had said at some point that night that  “I will not be going out of this world alone tonight.”

The wife called law enforcement from her grandmother’s house. Perez fled in a Jeep.

A deputy came and noted a puncture wound on the left shoulder just below the neck line. She was taken to a hospital.

The deputy later learned of a location that Perez might be hiding. He went there, but Perez wasn’t at the spot. Perez arrived on a bicycle and fled when he saw the deputy.  Deputies in marked cars eventually caught up with him, and he turned his bike into one of the vehicle’s paths and struck it.

Perez was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon,  resisting arrest without violence, tampering with a victim or witness and criminal mischief.  He remained in the Land O' Lakes Jail Friday.
