Man Critically Injured, 2 Dogs Killed In Pasco By Drunk Driver: FHP

A Tampa man has been arrested and charged with DUI after troopers said he caused a crash that critically injured a man and killed two dogs.

Wilfredo Reyes Jr., 51, was charged with DUI involving serious injuries and animal cruelty. He was released on $25,000 bond.

SHADY HILLS, FL — A Tampa man has been arrested and charged with driving under the influence after state troopers said he caused a three-car crash that left one driver with life-threatening injuries and killed two dogs, including his own.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 8:35 p.m. Sunday, Wilfredo Reyes Jr., 51, was driving a Jeep Wrangler east on State Road 52, east of Shady Hills Road, when he veered into the westbound lane and collided with a Chevy Avalanche towing a trailer driven by a 62-year-old Spring Hill man. Behind the Chevy was a Ford Ranger driven by a 53-year-old Spring Hill man, also headed west.

State troopers said the Chevy spun around and struck the Ford Ranger.

The driver of the Ranger was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

The crash also killed two dogs: one that was riding in Reyes' Jeep Wrangler and another that was riding in the Ford Ranger.

Reyes was arrested and charged with DUI involving serious injuries and animal cruelty. He was released on $25,000 bond.
