New Port Richey Teen Honored For Grades, Sports

Mary Kay Kujak, a senior at Ridegwood High School, has been recognized by the Florida High School Athletic Association.

A New Port Richey teen has been recognized by the Florida High School Athletic Association for her good grades and community service.

Mary Kay Kujak, a senior at Ridegwood High School, has a 4.0 and plays basketball, volleyball and tennis. The teen has aquired more than 800 hours of community service as well.

Her accomplishments earned her a place among the FHSAA's Academic All-State Team.

The FHSAA is proud to reward these outstanding students through the Academic All-State scholarship program for excelling in the classroom and yet still finding a way to impact their communities and succeed in the athletic arena," said FHSAA Executive Director Roger Dearing in a press release.

In total 24 Florida students recieved the honor.

"This group of student athletes truly personifies the FHSAA mission of building leaders through teamwork, sportsmanship and citizenship," Dearing said.

To be eligible for the honor, student athletes must have at least a 3.5 GPA, be a graduating senior and earned a varsity letter in at least two different sports.

Upon graduation Mary Kay, the Ridgewood High School student, plans to attend Baylor University.
