Property Owners Urged To Contact City For Hurricane Damage Inspections
The city of New Port Richey is asking property owners to assist with expediting recovery from the impacts of Hurricane Idalia.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — The city of New Port Richey is asking property owners to assist with expediting recovery of the community from the impacts of Hurricane Idalia.
Properties in flood zones designated on the city's flood maps that were damaged by wind, water, fallen trees or other hazards must be inspected before the city can issue building permits for repair, reconstruction or other improvements.
The preliminary damage inspections are limited to evaluating the extent of damage to foundations, roofs, windows and doors, siding, installed appliances, electrical and plumbing, heating and air conditioning, and walls and floors.

Inspections are required to assess the condition of the building and determine the work required to repair the building to its pre-damage condition. The period of inspections is limited to 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Once the property is inspected, the results are recorded in the city's database and the property owner will receive a letter with the results and explain any requirements that may apply.
