Roy Halladay Crash: Video Shows Plane Just Before It Goes Down

Video of MLB pitcher Roy Halladay's plane just before it crashed shows him make a sharp turn before it crashed into the water.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FLORIDA — Roy Halladay's plane glided just above the water after taking a steep decline right before it crashed into the Gulf of Mexico, video shot just before the wreck obtained by TMZ shows.

Halladay, the former MLB pitcher, was killed in the crash when the small plane splashed into the water off the coast of New Port Richey on Tuesday, Florida, Pasco County Sheriff's Office told Patch.

The video, shot a by a witness on a boat, shows Halladay’s plane taking a turn at close to a 90-degree angle before it straightened and glided closer to the water.

Halladay was in an Icon A5, a small plane he bought last month that has been involved in at least two other crashes in the last year.

The plane then dropped out of view of the camera before it crashed.

Witnesses told TMZ Halladay appeared to be “showboating” before the crash.

Halladay, who was 40 at the time of his death, spent 16 seasons in the MLB, pitching for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Philadelphia Phillies. He was a two-time Cy Young Award winner.

While Icon took down the video from its own site, you can watch it via Storyful News, which said the video was uploaded for use by its subscription clients “with the permission of the content owner.”
