There will be an increased law enforcement presence in the area as police investigate.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — A report of a shooting Sunday at the Tampa Premium Outlets proved to be false, but people were still injured in the aftermath, according to police.

The shooting was reported and a fire alarm was activated around 4:30 p.m. at the mall in the 2300 block of Grand Cypress Drive, police said.

“At this time, deputies are continuing to investigate but there is no evidence of a shooting and the only injuries were unrelated medical events and minor injuries after individuals were injured in the rush after the initial report,” according to a social media post from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office.
