Suspect in Port Richey and New Port Richey Bank Robberies Believed to be the Same Man

David Gilland, of Clearwater, was arrested on charges of robbing a BB&T Bank in Port Richey.

A Clearwater man accused of robbing a BB&T Bank at 9501 U.S. 19 in Port Richey Tuesday afternoon is believed to be the same man suspected of committing two bank robberies in New Port Richey in less than a week, according to the Pasco Sheriff's Office.

David Gilland, 37, was arrested at a Ramada Inn about an hour after the Port Richey robbery was reported, according to a media release from Kevin Doll, spokesman for the Pasco Sheriff’s Office. He was charged for the Port Richey robbery, and other charges are expected, according to Doll

On Tuesday, Gilland demanded money from a BB&T teller and fked toward the Gulf View Square Mall.

Gilland is believed to have robbed two banks in New Port Richey: a on Monday and a on Sept. 7.  In both  New Port Richey cases, the suspect slipped a teller a note demanding money and then fled on foot with cash.
