SUV Runs Over Bicyclist, Driver Arrested (Video)

Pasco County deputies say a New Port Richey woman used her SUV to intentionally run over a bicyclist.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — A 48-year-old New Port Richey woman faces criminal charges after Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies say she used her SUV to run over a bicyclist. She’s also accused of fleeing the scene, returning and then attacking the woman. The incident was captured on a nearby home’s surveillance camera.

The incident that led to Eileen Sue Suwalski’s arrest began to unfold just before 3:30 p.m. July 2. Deputies say a woman was riding her bicycle in the 8900 block of Lake Drive when Suwalski “intentionally ran her over.”

The two women know each other, an arrest report noted.

The deputy who investigated the incident pulled surveillance video from a nearby home and discovered a multi-colored SUV was spotted outside. The SUV “crossed into the opposite lane of travel, entered the front yard of the residence, and struck the victim from behind, causing injuries to the victim,” the report said.

The SUV left the scene, but the report noted it returned a few seconds later. At that time, the driver got out of the SUV and approached the woman who had been hit and began to “attack her.”

The driver once again left the scene, but the sheriff’s office said she returned while the deputy was interviewing the victim.

Suwalski now faces leaving the scene of an accident involving injury, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and battery charges. The sheriff’s office has not identified the victim. It is unclear how severe her injuries were.

A video of the initial run-in between the SUV and bicyclist was made available by the sheriff’s office. It can be viewed below. Note: The video may be disturbing to some viewers.
