Threats To Kill Teacher Land Student Behind Bars: Deputies

An 18-year-old Marchman senior was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill her former teacher at River Ridge High School.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — The first bell on the 2017-18 school year hadn’t even rung when Pasco County Sheriff’s deputies say they brought on 18-year-old Marchman senior into custody for allegedly taking to Facebook to threaten her former teacher.

According to the agency, Desiree Zio of New Port Richey was charged with written threats to kill or do bodily injury just before 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13.

“She posted on Facebook that she was going to kill her former teacher at River Ridge High School,” the agency explained in a Monday email to media. Deputies say Zio admitted to making the post on Facebook.

“She said she intended on finding the teacher at her residence or at the school with the intent to stab her with a knife,” the email said.

The alleged threat, an arrest report said, was sent from Zio’s mother’s Facebook account to the teacher’s. The teacher has not been identified, but authorities say she was in fear for her safety.

Zio, who turned 18 last week, was booking into the Pasco County Jail following her arrest.
