After some tough questions from a county commissioner, an adult Labrador retriever has been removed from Pasco County Animal Services’ euthanasia list.
The dog was described as “friendly” when initially brought to the Land O’ Lakes shelter but then suddenly and unexplainably labeled sick and aggressive, according to Pasco County Commissioner Pat Mulieri. Mulieri had asked shelter management for answers in an email.

“We need to be honest: we are killing for space,” Mulieri had said.
Mulieri said Patch’s story on the issue “helped” get the dog removed the euthanasia list and that now the dog needs a home. Mulieri is donating $50 for the spaying and a woman is offering up a Herkimer diamond ring (size 6) to the person who adopts the canine.
