Week Left to Sign up for Hacienda Hotel Cleanup

New Port Richey city leaders recently decided to make a clean break with the potential developer of the Hacienda Hotel.

Now, city officials are inviting the community to help clean up the downtown landmark. They recently announced that the cleanup is scheduled for Jan. 12, 8 a.m-11: 30 a.m. Lunch will be provided.

“2013 is a year of new opportunities, a fresh start, and a chance for our community to come together and celebrate the treasures in our city,” said Susan Dillinger, New Port Richey’s Interim City Manager, in a press release. “I can’t think of a better place to start than the Hacienda Hotel.

The city council voted last month to end their relationship with Community Development Partners, a development firm. The city had been negotiating with the firm for years on the proposal to redevelop the Hacienda.

Now, leaders are pondering next steps for the Hacienda Hotel. City officials are calling for a community cleanup of the building, inside and out. The plan stems from an idea that councilman Bill Phillips proposed.
