What Are You Doing for Patriot Day?

The city of New Port Richey is holding its memorial day celebration in Sims Park. Tell us how you are commemorating Sept. 11.

Patriot Day takes place on Tuesday this year. It honors the nearly 3,000 people killed in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Although Patriot Day isn’t a federal holiday, American flags are typically flown at half-staff and some people observe a moment of silence beginning at 8:46 a.m., which is the time the first plane crashed into the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

The city of New Port Richey is holding a memorial in Sims Park Tuesday starting at 6:15 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m.
