Where To Celebrate New Year’s Eve 2023 In Pasco County

Ring in the new year in New Port Richey area at parties at The Social, Gill Dawg, Bourbon on Main, Philly 40, Fraternal Order of Eagles.

PASCO COUNTY, FL — As Pasco County gets ready to ring in the new year, there are a number of events going on around town for those looking to celebrate.

Here is a look at some additional events happening on Dec. 31 in the New Port Richey area:

  • New Year’s Eve 2024 at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in New Port Richey. Doors at 5 p.m. with dinner served between 6 and 8 p.m. Open bar 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., followed by a continental breakfast from 12:30 to 1 a.m.
  • New Year’s Eve 2024 at The Social in downtown New Port Richey; 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Table reservations are available in the main dining area with rooftop, back bar and Main Street seating available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
  • New Year’s Eve on the Bayou, 8 p.m. to midnight, at Gill Dawg Tiki Bar and Grill in Port Richey. Live music includes Homegrown and The Bearded Brothers Band
  • New Year’s Eve Block Party, 8 p.m. to 2 am., at Philly 40 in Port Richey. There will be small bites, cash giveaways, a live DJ and more. Free entry.
  • New Year’s Eve at Bourbon on Main in Port Richey, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Free admission and party favors while supplies last, and music by DJ Joe V with Kool Kat Entertainment.

In the United States, one of the most popular New Year’s Eve traditions is the dropping of the giant ball in New York City’s Times Square. Other U.S. cities have adopted iterations of the ball drop — the Chick Drop in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and the giant Potato Drop in Boise, Idaho, for example.

According to legend, if they kept their word, pagan gods would grant them favor in the coming year. If they broke the promise, they would fall out of God’s favor, according to a history of New Year’s resolutions compiled by North Hampton Community College New Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Many secular New Year’s resolutions focus on imagining new, improved versions of ourselves.

The failure rate of New Year’s resolutions is about 80 percent, according to U.S. News & World Report. There are myriad reasons, but a big one is they’re made out of remorse — for gaining weight, for example — and aren’t accompanied by a shift in attitude and a plan to meet the stress and discomfort of changing a habit or condition.
