Dr. Ralph Stanley and The Clinch Mountain Boys will perform bluegrass music Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m. at Skipper's Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Rd., Tampa.
Ralph Stanley has been performing professionally since he and his older brother, Carter, formed a band in their native southwestern Virginia in 1946. From then to 1966, the Clinch Mountain Boys become one of the most celebrated bluegrass groups in the world.
Stanley received a Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album in 2003 and won Grammys for Best Country Male Vocalist Performance in 2002, beating out Johnn Cash, Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett and Tim McGraw, and Album of the Year for his part in the O Brother, Where Art Thou? collection.
