North Tampa Motorcyclist in Critical Condition After Crash

The man is in the hospital following a Monday morning accident.

A North Tampa motorcyclist was injured in a crash Monday morning, April 1, at the intersection of 56th Street and Park Ridge Avenue in Temple Terrace.

Benjamin Frederick Lankford, 26, of 14621 Grenadine Drive, Apt. 1, Tampa was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition following the crash, which occurred at 8:48 a.m., said Temple Terrace Police in a media release.

“Witnesses said Lankford was traveling northbound on 56th Street, weaving in and out of traffic,” according to the release.

Arvid Martin, 60, of 315 Park Ridge Ave., Temple Terrace was turning left in his Jeep Grand Cherokee to go southbound on 56th Street when Lankford’s motorcycle struck his vehicle, police said in the release.

“The motorcycle then struck a telephone pole, throwing Lankford from the bike, police said,” according to the release. “Martin was not injured in the vehicle crash.”
