Man Crashed SUV, Left Injured Woman Behind: Troopers

The Florida Highway Patrol is looking for a Tarpon Springs man accused of crashing in Palm Harbor and leaving a woman behind.

PALM HARBOR, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is on the hunt for a 28-year-old Tarpon Springs man accused of crashing a Toyota SUV on U.S. 19 in the Palm Harbor area Wednesday afternoon.

According to the patrol, Reynond Anthony Sefton was driving south on U.S. 19, south of Meadow Brook Drive, around 3:53 p.m. As Sefton approached slower traffic, he attempted to stop, a highway patrol report said. Sefton, however, lost control of the SUV, which subsequently overturned.

Sefton “then abandoned his passenger and vehicle in the center of the highway, and fled the scene of the crash on foot,” the report said.

Passenger Annie M. Bell, 44, of Tarpon Springs suffered minor injuries. Troopers also believe Sefton suffered minor injuries in the crash. Bell was taken to a local hospital for treatment following the wreck.

Authorities tried to locate Sefton, but had no luck. Anyone with information on the crash or Sefton’s whereabouts is asked to call the patrol at 813-631-4020. Calls may also be placed to *FHP on cellphones.

Charges are pending the outcome of the patrol’s investigation. No further information is being released at this time.
