1 Killed, 2 Injured In Sarasota County Crash: FL Highway Patrol
One woman was killed and two people injured, one critically, in a southern Sarasota County Crash, FL Highway Patrol said.
SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A woman was killed and two people were injured, one critically, in a Thursday afternoon crash in Nokomis, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.
A Ram 3500 truck was heading south on U.S. 41 in the center travel lane, approaching Colonia Lane, around 3:45 p.m.
At the same time, a car was heading north on U.S. 41 in the left turn lane at the Colonia Lane intersection.

The car tried to make a u-turn at the intersection and drove directly into the pickup truck’s path, FHP said. The truck drove into the left side of the car.
The car was redirected, turning around, and came to a rest facing south directly against a store in the 900 block of U.S. 41, FHP said.

The car’s passenger, a 63-year-old Englewood woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, an 81-year-old Englewood woman, was brought to Sarasota Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
The truck’s driver, a 47-year-old Sarasota man, suffered minor injuries into the crash.
