5 Things: Find Girl Scout Cookies, Awake The State and More

Awake the State rally will be held this morning in Sarasota - the opening day of the lawmaking season in Tallahassee.

1. Awake The State will return today for a rally to express their views of what the Florida legislature and Gov. Rick Scott should do as the lawmaking season kicks off. Question is, will it be as interesting as the March rally where author 

2. The first personnel move in the city's computer file investigation is official. Sarasota city government is without at least temporarily an Information Technology director and manager today as the city has placed the two workers on paid leave Monday according to The Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

3. Girl Scout Cookie lovers can rejoice. Not only is there a new cookie, called Savannah, but you can easily find where Girl Scouts will sell the cookies around Sarasota with a nifty website. There's an app for that, too.

4. A Benderson Development official previewed some of the company's retail and rowing projects Tuesday for the year ahead and for the long term. Among the items includes the old Kmart site near Sarasota Square Mall seeing some action in the next three months and the University Town Center mall will start construction in 12 to 18 months.

5. Actor James Woods is in Sarasota tonight for a private event that includes the screening of his 1986 film Salvador and a Q-and-A. We'll have coverage of Woods' appearance on Patch Wednesday morning.
