9 Sarasota Stores Cited for Underage Alcohol Sales

Nine Sarasota convenience store clerks were cited for selling alcohol to a minor during an undercover operation conducted by the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office Juvenile Alcohol Task Force during the last week of December 2011.

The following businesses, the sheriff's office says, were found to be in violation of selling alcohol to a person under 21 and the clerks were given a misdemeanor Notice to Appear:

1. - 2616 Stickney Point Road, Sarasota

2. - 5604 Swift Road, Sarasota

3. - 4400 Clark Road, Sarasota

4. Citgo - 2201 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota

5. - 1801 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota

6. - 3138 17th Street, Sarasota

7. - 3605 N. Lockwood Ridge Rd., Sarasota

8.   - 1721 N. Honore Avenue, Sarasota

9. 7-Eleven  - 5891 Fruitville Road, Sarasota

Five businesses in Venice had clerks cited along with two in Osprey.

Another 43 businesses were found to be in compliance and were sent a letter to commend owners and employees for helping reduce the sale of alcohol to minors.
