Bowie Birthday Bash in Sarasota
David Bowie fans will celebrate the British rock legend's 65th birthday on Sunday in Sarasota with a concert and behind-the-scenes talk.
David Bowie is turning 65 and that means a big celebration in South Florida this weekend.
Sarasota will bookend the three-day Bowie loveliest on Sunday at , 975 Cattleman Road where Bowie publicist Tony Michaelides will share behind-the-scenes footage, stories and answer questions will be the highlight for many Bowie fans.
Tickets cost $9 in advance and $12 at the door. The show is presented by SarasotaMusicScene.com and radio stations WSLR-FM, BAAMO and WMNF-FM.

But it is all about the man's music, right? Thirteen bands will perform covers of Bowie songs Sunday (doors open at 3 p.m.; Michaelides at 4 p.m.; music at 5 p.m.).
The show wraps up with Barely Pink performing the entire album of "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars."

Can't make it Sunday? The event will also be at the State Theatre in St. Petersburg on Friday and Skipper's Smokehouse in Tampa on Saturday with Michaelides and an adjusted band line-up.
