City Holds Reception for Palm Ave Garage Murals

The five-story Palm Avenue Garage's creative murals are designed to help people remember where they parked.

The City of Sarasota and Jonathan Parks Architect will host a reception for the Palm Avenue Garage public art murals at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The reception will begin on the roof and move to each floor to view the artwork. The public is welcome to attend.

Professional artists painted murals on each of the five levels of the garage over the past several weeks.

"I'm excited about these murals and the energy they’re generating downtown," said Mayor Suzanne Atwell in a news release. "They’re beautiful, fun, memorable and unique. This public art project really showcases why Sarasota is an arts destination. Not only is there public art on each floor of the parking garage in the form of these stunning murals, but the garage itself is a piece of architectural art. I expect more people will want to come downtown to see and experience firsthand what all the buzz is about."
