Downtown Holiday Parade Street Closings

Some roads will be blocked as early as noon Saturday to get ready for the Sarasota Holiday Parade.

Before all the holly jolly at the Sarasota Holiday Parade on Saturday, streets will have to be closed to get ready for the event.

The parade starts at 7 p.m. winding its way on Main Street and Washington Boulevard and travels west on Main to Bayfront Drive.

Vehicles that remain parked in the posted prohibited areas will be towed.

The Staging Area shut down at noon. The city anticipates this area will be reopened by 9:00 p.m.:

• Main Street from Washington Boulevard to School Avenue

• School Avenue from Main Street to Fruitville Road

• Audubon at Fruitville Road

• Fletcher at Fruitville Road

• Wallace at Fruitville Road

• East Avenue from Fruitville Road to Ringling Boulevard

Washington Boulevard will be shut down from Fruitville Road to Ringling Boulevard at 5 p.m. It is anticipated this area will be reopened by 9 p.m.

The parade route shuts down at 5 p.m. The city anticipates this area will be reopened by 9 p.m.:

• Main Street from Washington Boulevard to Bayfront Drive

• Gulfstream Avenue from Tamiami Trail south to McAnsh

• McAnsh from Gulfstream Avenue to Pineapple

The 1600-block of Main Street will be closed at 5:30p.m. to accommodate the 1st Baptist Church “Singing Christmas Tree”.

Orange Avenue will be used as the emergency route.

The staging area and parade route will be posted and vehicles will be towed.
