Highway Patrol to Conduct DUI Checkpoint

Florida Highway Patrol will be out on New Years Eve to remove drunken drivers from the road.

The Florida Highway Patrol will conduct a DUI Checkpoint starting at 10 p.m. Saturday in the 7900-block of Tamiami Trail, near the .

Troopers conducting the checkpoint will monitor those who pass through to ensure they are properly licensed and driving sober.

Florida law considers a driver with .08 or higher Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) to be impaired. Drivers under the age of 21 with a BAC of .02 or higher are also in violation of Florida law.

The Florida Highway Patrol also says drunken drivers, aggressive drivers or roadside assitance can be reported via cell phone by dialing *FHP (*347).
