Man Arrested for Attempted Wells Fargo Bank Robbery

Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrested Kenneth Lorne Crosby on attempted robbery charges after a Wells Fargo bank was robbed Dec. 20.

Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested 37-year-old Kenneth Lorne Crosby, of 1906 Livingstone Street, Sarasota, on one count of attempted robbery with a firearm for the attempted bank robbery that occurred on Dec. 20 at the Wells Fargo bank located at 8595 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota.

After releasing bank surveillance video of the suspect, detectives received numerous tips about the suspect’s identity, the sheriff’s office said. Crosby, seen in the video with bleached blond hair, had dyed it in an attempt to avoid detection, dyeing it again after the robbery attempt, the sheriff’s office said.

The man had fled the area, last seen at a nearby CVS Pharmacy, according to the sheriff’s office, and K-9s tracked his scent in the same area of his home on the day of the attempted robbery.

Detectives executed a search warrant at Crosby’s residence earlier today and recovered additional evidence linking him to the robbery.
