Man Dies After Driving Into Sarasota Home: FL Highway Patrol

The man drove off the road and through a ditch, hit a parked vehicle, and drove through a Sarasota home, Florida Highway Patrol said.

SARASOTA, FL — A man died after driving through a ditch and hitting a parked vehicle and home in Sarasota Wednesday night, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The driver, a 48-year-old Sarasota man, was heading west on Antoinette Street, approaching Ray Street, when he ran off the road and drove onto a residential property just after 9 p.m.

He hit a landscaping bed and water line at the home before driving through the ditch on the south side of the street, FHP said.

He traveled across Antoinette Street, driving onto another residential property, where he hit an unoccupied parked car and drove into the home, causing structural damage, the agency said.

The driver was brought to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The homeowner was uninjured in the crash.
